A new report confirms that while 80 percent of surveyed small business owners accept the fact they should be doing SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for their work, only 36 percent have a strategy in place.
The fact of the matter, though, is that those who decline to act accordingly to improve their businesses and better serve their customers will probably be left behind by those who choose to take action.
In this issue, the business technology experts with Caldiatech will talk more about the survey and give reasons why taking steps with SEO makes good business sense.
The Numbers Behind the Survey
For the survey, 529 small businesses with between 1 and more than 50 employees were asked about their SEO practices.
In addition to the 36 percent who are not pursuing SEO practices, 15 percent said they “have intentions” to do so.
Unfortunately, this “get to it eventually” attitude has a strong possibility of hurrying the closing of the business because technology is never slowing down and it never waits.
Why should I be concerned with SEO?
Even though SEO is constantly changing, experts believe the concept is here to stay because of the increasing popularity of conducting business online. Because of that, search engines will continue to play a vital role in the way business is done.
- SEO is different than traditional marketing because you are able to constantly target your audience regardless of where they are located. While traditional marketing (commercials, print ads, etc.) requires your intended audience to be doing a specific thing at a specific time, SEO is a form of on-the-go marketing that can be tweaked and adjusted on the fly.
- Effective SEO can provide you and your business with instant credibility. Because few will take the time to thoroughly research a particular company or product, your placement on a search return can provide an unspoken reassurance that your company and product are to be trusted.
- There’s a good chance your competitors are already using SEO practices for their advantage. The good news, though, is that unless your business is among the big boys, SEO, and online marketing levels the playing field.
